Concordia Resident’s Creative Quarantine Paintings and Art Display Help Older Adults

Her paintings were on display July 21 and 22 at Finding Joy in Quarantine, a virtual and in-person fundraiser helping local older adults.The socially distanced in-person portion of the event was held in the 36th Street Square Event Center in Bethany, Okla. Attendees purchased Langley’s paintings of nature, landscape and still life pieces which ranged in price from $30-$60. Almost all of the paintings sold and proceeds amounted to nearly $2,000. Guests who wanted to stay in were encouraged to enjoy Langley’s art on Concordia’s Facebook Page, where there is an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with the artist. Per Langley’s request, all proceeds from the art show benefitted two local organizations dedicated to helping older adults thrive in the community, Concordia Life Plan Community and VillagesOKC.
Langley said the organizations and its volunteers inspired her during months of quarantine and encouraged her creative pursuits.
“I feel very privileged and honored to be able to display the gifts God gave me,” said Langley. “While we were going through the pandemic, every day I painted something. I just loved it. It was my salvation,” said Langley, a volunteer with VillagesOKC.
Concordia Marketing Director Julie Davis said Beverly taught art classes in the community where she lives just before the pandemic started.
“The time, talent and treasures Beverly has shared with us are priceless,” said Davis. “At Concordia, we aim to provide a vibrant environment where our residents can thrive. We know that creative endeavors like art can help provide a healthy outlet for self-expression. Beverly’s positive attitude is an inspirational lesson for us all during these challenging times.”
