Concordia Celebrates ‘Village-versary’ with VillagesOKC
Concordia Life Plan Community recently celebrated the first ‘village-versary’ of VillagesOKC, a nonprofit in OKC dedicated to providing seniors the services they need. September marks one year since VillagesOKC received the official letter granting them nonprofit status, and Concordia was one of the organization’s founding partners.
A key member of VillagesOKC is Concordia Executive Director, Danny Eischen. Eischen researched Villages across the nation and even attended the National Village to Village Gathering to learn more about the nonprofit. Upon returning to Oklahoma, Eischen collaborated with other interested parties and was instrumental in bringing VillagesOKC to Oklahoma. Concordia has remained involved in the nonprofit, as well, and was the first to offer the VillageOKC class “Take Your Brain Back to School” to the wider community.
At the ‘village-versary,’ the Honorable State Representative Marilyn Stark, one of VillageOKC’s first volunteer staff members, presented Eischen with the VillageOKC Village Visionary Award for all his work with the organization.
