Concordia Life Care Community Resident Receives National Volunteer Leadership Award
Resident was one of two nation-wide to receive the award
Concordia resident Clyde Buchanan was recently given the 2018 Lutheran Federal Credit Union Volunteer Leadership Award for his selfless spirit and many years of volunteer work. Buchanan was one of two individuals selected nation-wide for the award, which was created to recognize those who shape the vision and fulfill the mission of ministry organizations.
“Clyde’s service in multiple efforts at Concordia Life Plan Community reflects a true servant heart,” said Ken Krueger, CEO of the Lutheran Federal Credit Union. “While we received some outstanding nominations, Clyde’s volunteer efforts stood out, and we are proud to present the inaugural Volunteer Leadership Award to a man who has positively impacted hundreds of lives.”
Buchanan’s volunteerism ranges from creating Concordia’s Music and Memory Care program, an initiative that assists those with dementia through music, to his involvement in the Special Olympics, to volunteering for Meals on Wheels, a program Concordia champions.
“Outreach, ministry and helping others has always been a vital part of our community’s mission, and every resident embodies these values,” said Danny Eischen, Concordia’s Executive Director. “It’s incredibly gratifying to see someone like Clyde recognized for his service. We’re thankful that he is able to use his talents and passion through our volunteer outlets to help others.”
