INDEPENDENT LIVING FAQ
What Is the Difference Between Independent Living and Assisted Living?
Independent living residents maximize their active lifestyle with convenient on-site services. While assisted living residents are also free to pursue their interests in the community, they require some help with self-care tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating and more.
Does Medicare Cover Independent Living Costs?
No, Medicare doesn’t cover independent living costs such as housing, dining and amenities. However, any necessary medical care that you require, such as doctor’s visits or medications, are typically covered.
Are Any Additional Services Available in Independent Living?
- Additional dining
- Catering services in the residence or private dining room
- Beauty and barber shop services
- Personal laundry/dry cleaning
- Package/mailing services
- Personal transportation
- In-home assistance with daily care
What Is the Difference Between a Monthly Rental and a Life Plan – Entrance Fee Retirement Community?
An entrance fee retirement community is an investment in Life Care, with a guaranteed continuum of care – from assisted living and memory care to rehabilitation/skilled nursing and long-term care. Unlike a monthly rental community, where healthcare is not guaranteed, residents of a Life Care entrance fee community don’t have to worry about the financial risk of rising healthcare costs.
What Level of Care Does Independent Living Offer?
An independent senior living community provides residents with programs, services and other amenities while freeing them from heavy housekeeping and home maintenance chores. At this stage, independent living residents do not require help with daily tasks, though our community offers this service in case your care needs change.
What Happens if My Needs Change and I Need Additional Care?
As a continuing care retirement community, Concordia provides personalized care for residents with different needs. Our continuum of care starts with independent living and progresses to assisted living, memory care and long-term care.
