Concordia’s Marketing Director Highlights Rock Steady Boxing Program at the LeadingAge Annual Meeting & EXPO 2019
Concordia Life Plan Community’s Marketing Director, Julie Davis co-presented at the LeadingAge Annual Meeting & EXPO 2019 with Mike Brindley, Senior VP of Consulting Services at Solutions Advisors Group on October 29, 2019. Davis and Brindley spoke about “Making a Difference: Engaging with Prospective Residents to Find Your Niche.”
LeadingAge is an association of nonprofit providers of aging services. Each year, the LeadingAge Annual Meeting & EXPO brings thousands of dedicated aging services professionals together to exchange ideas, explore new strategies and master the latest best practices for aging in America.
Concordia’s Rock Steady Boxing Program
On October 29, Davis and Brindley presented a case study about the inception of Concordia’s Rock Steady Boxing program, which was inspired by Concordia’s ability to listen and engage with a prospective resident who was living with Parkinson’s disease.
Davis and Brindley used their experience creating the Rock Steady Boxing program to explain how living communities can identify unique opportunities that differentiate them and position them as a thought leader and niche expert. LeadingAge recognized Concordia and its non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum as an example of a community using an empathetic approach to have meaningful interactions with current and future residents.
Concordia began offering the Rock Steady Boxing in October 2018, making it the first retirement community in Oklahoma to provide the program geared toward individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. The weekly classes are offered to both residents and community members who hope to combat the symptoms of Parkinson’s or simply live a healthier lifestyle.
